Recreation (including 1.1km out-of-river flatwater facility) ecological restoration, residential and visitor attraction
This option for the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor Regeneration Area seeks to provide a balance between:
Ecological restoration
A range of non-ticketed and ticketed visitor attractions
Recreation, including a 1.1km out of river flatwater facility suitable for waka ama, dragon boating, canoeing and related sports; and
A range of intermediate period and permanent residential uses.
It includes an exchange of land between Rawhiti and Avondale Golf courses with a new course in Bexley. The existing courses are re-developed for residential use.
